Art Work

It is always changing.
It has order.
It doesn't have a specific place.
Its boundaries are not fixed.
It affects other things.
It is affected by other things.
It may be accessible but go unnoticed.
Part of it may also be part of something else.
Some of it is familiar.
Some of it is strange.
Knowing of it changes it.

- Robert Barry, 1970 -

About the Artist:

Jung Hee Lee-Marles was born in Seoul, South Korea. She completed undergraduate and graduate studies in Fine Art Education, and worked as an art teacher in Korea for two years. In 1983 she moved to Chicago where she obtained a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education. In 1988 she moved to Canada, first to Quebec for four years and then to Manitoba where she worked as an Art Instructor and Gallery Assistant at the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba, and as an Art Grant Juror. She served as an "Artist in School" at a number of Manitoba schools, where she helped young people to learn about art. She also had a private studio where she prepared works of art for exhibitions funded by four grants from the Manitoba Arts Council. Examples of her works are now held in the Government of Manitoba Art Collection and many private collections. She has also donated many of her works of art to help art organizations and galleries with their fundraising events. For her own professional development, Jung Hee has participated in a variety of art workshops, lecture series, certificate programs and art advisory programs in Ottawa; London, England (Royal Academy of Arts, Tate Gallery, National Portrait Gallery); and Winnipeg. After 12 years of developing her artistic career in the Prairies, in 2003 she settled down in Ottawa with her husband, two children, and dog. She continues to enjoy painting, drawing, exhibiting her works and meeting people through her art.
